Privacy

Everyone knows about privacy – right?

Don’t we always respect the privacy of our colleagues and clients?

We believe so but now there is no room for doubt: It is required by law.

You should know about the privacy principles on which the laws are based and what they mean for you. They are the new rules for collecting, using, disclosing and storing identifying information about people, and for giving people access to information held about them if the Freedom of Information Act does not apply.

Why we respect privacy:

The National Privacy Principles which are contained in the Information Privacy Act 1988 and the Health Records Act 2001 must be met by any organisation keeping health records. Lantern is committed to protecting the privacy, accuracy and security of your personal information and stores information subject to the requirements of these Acts.

How we respect privacy:

1. We will only collect information relevant to our relationship with you. The information we collect will include contact details, personal details, health record information.

2. We will collect this information directly from you, and when we need other information from a third person, only if you give us written permission

3. Your information is only accessible to Lantern staff on a “need to know” basis.
